Narayan Seva Sansthan has consistently emerged as a centre that provides sensitive care to the affected individuals and the society in general to reduce vulnerabilities through relevant options that promote healthy living.

Shri Kailash Agarwal’s (Founder- Chairman) humanitarian thoughts were irrigated since his childhood. His inclination to serve the mankind developed in the early years of his life when he used see his father helping the poor & needy, despite having meager resources. Since his childhood he got congruence of saints and religious persons, read books on life of great personalities which inculcated in him the qualities of love, compassion, kindness and desperation to do something for the oppressed humanity.

The beginning:

In 1976, he heard that a bus collided with a truck in Pindwara, Sirohi District in Rajasthan. He took leave from his job and immediately rushed to the accident spot. He was deeply moved as he saw and felt the pain and the plight of the 43 casualties in a road accident there. With the help of others, Shri Kailash ‘Manav’ admitted the casualties to the general hospital. He then started visiting the hospital daily, to look after the patients to provide them with the best possible help. One day on his routine visit to the hospital he met a patient named ‘Kisna Bheel’ who saved some portion of food from the plate served to him for his brother and son so that they can satiate their hunger. On asking, Kishan Bheel replied that ‘I am still hungry, but my brother and my son are also accompanying me. We have no money left with us and I have to save the chapattis for them!’ Right at this moment, Shri Kailash ‘Manav’ thought there must be many such people who would be sleeping hungry for their families. To help such people, he distributed some containers with ‘Narayan Seva’ written on it to his relatives and acquaintances and asked them to put some flour in it on daily basis. He and his wife used to prepare chapattis out of the flour which they collected and feed the hungry. From there the journey of Narayan Seva Sansthan started in the year 1985.

Few years later a severe famine broke in Udaipur, to help the affected population he organized camps in the rural and tribal regions and distributed free clothes, food grains and medicines which he collected from the generous people of Udaipur. Continuing his humanitarian deeds on 15th December 1990 he laid the foundation of an orphanage to provide the homeless children belonging to the tribal and rural parts of Udaipur with quality education so that they can be part of the mainstream society.

One day Shri Kailash ji was distributing free food to the poor and needy in his camps a person crawling on his four legs came to him for his help.  He took him to Mumbai for treatment and then he decided that he will help the ‘differently able’ persons. Thereafter, more polio patients were taken by him to Mumbai for treatment but it was very costly affair and time consuming process to take each and every patient to Mumbai. So, he decided to establish a hospital in Udaipur.

In the year 1997 he laid the foundation of a 151 bedded Chainraj Lodha Hospital in Udaipur with the financial support from Lt. Shri Chainraj Lodha to conduct free operations of people suffering from polio. This is how Shri Kaliash Ji ‘Manav’ came into the field of serving the ‘differently able’ persons and today ‘Narayan Seva Sansthan’ is India’s top most NGO serving in the field of treating and providing rehabilitation  the ‘differently able’ patients across the Globe.

“NARAYAN SEVA SANSTHAN is a venture of dreams and endurance.”

The organization has played a vital role in catering development and services in the realm of rehabilitation and treatment of ‘differently able’ and the needy people through the execution of its various ‘free of cost’ service activities.

Narayan Seva Sansthan is the hope for physically impaired patients suffering from Polio, Cerebral Palsy, and other by birth disabilities belonging from India, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Ukraine, UK and USA. It has 1100 bedded hospitals functioning with a team of 125 doctors and nursing staff, who are operating about 95 patients daily and servicing the humanity.

Narayan Seva Sansthan’s founder believes, making patients physically fit is not enough, to make them more confident and self-reliant we must change their perspective towards life by bringing them into the main stream.

Disability awareness and its rehabilitation are very important when it comes to breaking stereotypes and overcoming preconceptions regarding disabilities. It shouldn’t inhibit one in any aspect, be it professional or personal.

So, far in our journey we have learned how courage can catalyze victimhood into heroism, how compassion enables the human will to overcome, how equality is not a concept but a truth that encompasses all living beings and how service of others is not a choice anymore, but a duty.
